This darling floofy puppy is Sally. She came into rescue with littermate Sis. She's a two year old Livestock Guardian Dog (LGD)(Anatolian Shepherd/Karakachan) around 65 lbs. Of the pair, she has appointed herself the leader. That is offering some unique challenges as she's adapting to not being on guard every moment. She carries a ton of insecurities as she just wasn't ready to be in a leadership role as such a young girl. Learning to kennel (these girls have been outside their whole lives), walk nicely on a lead, and to recall. Sally is brilliant in the vehicle! Additional skills will be a work in progress while she's here! We are also working hard on independence as she's very bonded to her sister. That has created some boundary and resource guarding. She is getting better and better every day. She has been her sister's caretaker and she takes that role very very seriously. She is a more serious demeanored girl. She's not one to take a joke. I look forward to her walls coming down as time goes on. She will do best in a home with other doggos, but will require very slow and careful introductions. Resident doggos should be confident pack leaders. She did have some fear/insecure reactions to the resident LGD, but has done better and better as the days have gone on. Because she's been on guard, she can get anxious when required to do things all by herself! Potty training is going very well, with no accidents so far! Silly things like doors and stairs are so new and a bit scary, but she's taking everything in stride. Shows no interest in the horses. Has been indifferent to the kitties. Not inherently brave with people, but not fearful either. Some resource guarding, eats well, and is learning what cookies are! Sally is a very great representation of the breeds. She has a ton of work drive, is so so so so clever, picks things up so quickly, and is always watching/learning. She has so much try and desperately wants to be in the thick of things! As she is a LGD, they are a bit aloof and offer unique training challenges. Sally won't do well with a totally inexperienced home as she is smarter than most 8th graders, athletic, did I mention clever? I do suggest researching these breeds before inquiring. They bond very very hard with their people. She is so ready for that partnership! She is begging for structure, rules, and a job! Her shepherd will need to be fair and patient. She takes correction seriously. It won't be hard to cross the line into having her take it personally. She is a brilliant girl and will be a brilliant partner. A reminder that this girlie's whole life has been outside. So, everything is new. Kenneling has been a work in progress but is getting better every day. She's out and about whenever a resident human is home. Otherwise, she is kenneled with her sister with potty breaks every four hours.
