“A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.” Quote by Josh Billings | ||||

Pearl, who we call Abby, is a 2 year old terrier mix. She weighs 28 lbs. and she is house trained. She loves to be near us, following us wherever we go in the house, but she settles down nicely and just lays down. When we first got her she was not sure of anything, preferring to stay in her safe spot under the kitchen table. Since that time she has learned to be outgoing, how to play with dog toys, and that car rides are fun! When taken for a walk she always stops at the car in hopes she is going for a ride. She is calm when taken into stores and everyone wants to pet her super soft short hair.
Her favorite things are going for walks, car rides, being loved on, and playing fetch. If it is a nasty day outside she can easily get her exercise with a few tosses of her soft toy.
She can still have a bit of separation anxiety, but she is improving and she does not destroy anything while left alone. She would get overly excited when left in her kennel when we went out so she stays free in the living room with no problems. We do shut the bedroom doors because she likes to find socks or shoes left on the floor.
She sleeps on her new bed throughout the night in the living room with no problems. She would prefer to sleep in bed with you, but we do not allow her on the furniture. If you would like her there she would be happy to oblige.
She gets along well with our resident dog that is slightly smaller than her. She is nervous around bigger dogs, but we have been working on that and she has recently done the doggy version of approaching bigger dogs successfully. She is not aggressive with dogs, but I think she would go after a cat. Adults and children pet her with no problem.
She does get very excited when the leash is pulled out. She will jump, but we have worked on that and she is much better. She also gets excited when we come home, jumping up, but that is getting less with practice.
Most of the time she is very quiet, but if she wants your attention and you aren't giving it to her she will start barking and do the "downward dog" position. Other times she will "talk" to you making cute little squeals.
If you want a funny, loving dog to be your companion, please take a look at Pearl!
