Meet Laurel! She is about 4 years old and about 50 lbs. She’s thought to be some sort of Australian Shepherd/Brittany (or other spaniel) mix. She was found in the woods in Kentucky and brought to Minnesota in August 2022.

Laurel loves belly rubs and treats. When she is super happy or excited, her tail will wag in a circle like a boat propeller.

Laurel loves to be outside or monitor outside through the window. She just experienced her first Minnesota winter and she LOVES the snow! Rolling around in the snow, digging and jumping in it, and eating ice are some of her favorite winter pastimes. Since she grew up in the woods, she is very good at hunting rabbits, squirrels, and large birds.

Laurel is a super chewer and does like to tear apart her toys like they are animals. Initially, she did chew on other things, but she is very smart and adaptable and only had to be corrected once or twice. Laurel is very food motivated and happy to learn tricks for treats.

She is potty trained and kennel trained and will let you know when she needs to go outside. She is good with kids but she gets excited and could easily knock over/scare a small child so older kids would be best.

Cats? She tries to chase the strays around the area. If the cat can hold its ground, she’ll respect it. She could definitely be taught to leave a pet cat alone. She is good with most dogs, yes. She had to look out for herself for most of her life so she will defend herself if she needs to but she is not an instigator. It does take her some time to warm up to larger dogs, but she is generally very excited to see smaller dogs.

She does pretty well on a leash! She does tend to pull if there is an animal to hunt or smelly trash in the road, but she can usually be redirected. She loves care r ides and has to get in from the driver’s side.

Now that spring is starting to arrive, Laurel is a bit more energetic and playful and is excited to go on longer walks. She would likely do best with an active family that has a fenced yard, but she currently lives in an apartment in Minneapolis. Could you be her forever home?
