Hi, my name is Kinley, and poppa says I'm the biggest floof ball ever. I'm not sure what a floof ball is, but from his tone, I know it's a good thing. I was brought into rescue by some nice folks in Kentucky, and they brought me north just in time for SNOW! I love snow. It's so fun to roll around in, get down on my belly and do the army crawl. It puts a big smile on poppa's face when I do these things, so I'm guessing it’s pretty stinking cute to see. Poppa here. I can’t help but smile when Kinley plays in the snow. She can get excited at the start of the walk and pull some, which she is improving on. Once we are on the walk she does very well on the leash. She does walk faster than me (in all fairness, she has twice as many legs) and goes to the end of the leash. However, a quick "Eh" and a little tap on the leash she comes back to me and gives me her complete attention. Then, when we come inside she stands nicely so I can dry her feet. She is eager to please and to trust. First night her legs were muddy and I was home alone. I thought, this is going to be “interesting”, trying to hold and bathe a dog that barely knows me. I could not have asked for better, after a little initial nervousness, she stood beautifully on the wash tray while I picked up, hosed and dried all 4 legs. Kinley is the closest thing to a real live teddy bear I have seen. She is a cuddle bug and as sweet as they come! She loves to jump up and give hugs. But, she jumps up in front of you, not on you, then just reaches out to you with her paws, so it's nothing like when a dog jumps up ON you. Now, here is what blew my mind, when she reaches her paws out, she will often wrap them around you and give a real hug. She is getting close to giving kisses also, but she said she doesn't kiss on the first date :) She doesn't go into her kennel by simply saying the word and pointing. However, when brought to it she will go in without issue and settles down right away. While she is interested in her food, she eats calmly. She does fine in her kennel while we are gone all day at work without an accident and without spilling her water bowl. She does like to jump up to see what is on the nightstand and book shelf. But, here also, she did it so daintily that the only thing disturbed was a single envelope that was laying near the edge of the night stand. We have had some dogs half her size who hit like a linebacker when they jump up, so I am always super impressed when a bigger dog is able to be this aware and gentle. We introduced her to our dogs, one her size and one half her size, she played great with both. She reads our dogs' queues very well. In one of the pictures, you will see that when she met our smaller dogs she laid down on her belly so she would not tower over him. And when he needed a break, she read his ques and gave him space. In short, I think if Santa had a right-hand dog, it would be Kinley.
