Sandy is a 2 year old brindle, mountain cur mix around 57 lbs who was found in Kentucky taking good care of her puppies. She is the perfect family dog! She is house trained - but honestly I think because she just knows not to mess in the place she lives. She asks to go out.
Sandy is not kennel trained and doesn’t want it or seem to need it. She does very well outside her kennel. She doesn’t chew or get on to counters or in to anything. In fact I think it would be in her best interest to be in a home that does not require kenneling. She sleeps with me at night. (and loves to sleep in)
She has been left on her own as long as 5 hours with no accidents or destruction. It appeared she just hung out on the couch the whole time. I am mindful how she is left, including which door we use to leave the house and that she has her kong with peanut butter in it.
She graze feeds, and so would need to learn how to eat at specific times if with other dogs. Otherwise, if no other dogs she can have her bowl full and she will eat when hungry and stop when done. She won’t try to snatch your food or get in your space while you are eating.
She loves people - both men and women-and absolutely loves kids of all ages. She is great with cats. And I suspect great with other dogs as she wiggles her tail and seems happy when she sees other dogs. She never barks at them or acts scared.
She walks perfectly on a leash … like she’s done it all her life. Easy enough for a kid to walk her. I think she’d be a great walking or jogging companion for someone.
She’s a very calm young dog with playful energy that pops up every now and again. She shows an interest in playing fetch and it’s easy to know when she’s happy and excited. But she rarely tries to jump up on someone and is very easily corrected.
She learned to sit on command in the first 24 hours of having her. She knows not to go jump over baby gate into kitchen- and respects that boundary. She allows me to groom her (trim toenails, clean ears, bathe).
She’d do very well as a dog included in the family activities who can sleep in bed with her people and hang out on the couch while watching a movie.
Sandy is a kind, smart, easy going dog without any challenging habits to break. She’d be a blessing to her furever family.
