Hi everyone!  My name is Summer and I am a 5 year old Cocker Spaniel.  My first five years were spent just having puppies for a breeder, so I am having to learn how to just be a dog.  I didn’t really know what being petted and loved was all about when I came to the rescue.  My foster mom spends lots of time just petting me and telling me I’m a good girl,  I really like hearing that!  I am still very timid around people, but I’m starting to trust more every day.  I startle easily, so a home with little ones may not be the best fit.  I actually like it best when there’s not a lot of commotion.  I get along really well with the resident dog even though he’s much bigger than me.  I’ve even started playing with him but mostly I just look to him to show me how to be a dog.  I think having a furry friend in my forever home would make me feel a lot more secure.  There is a cat here but I don’t bother her.  I haven’t figured out how to let my foster mom know when I need to go outside yet.  We go out on a schedule and that works well for me.  I sleep in my kennel at night,  but I don’t like going in.  I need a helping hand to get in there.  I walk pretty well on a leash and I don’t mind going for a car ride.  I had to have a couple teeth pulled and the vet said I will need cleanings in the future.  I am ready to keep finding out what it’s like to be the best dog I can be and I need a home with people who will have the patience to encourage me to shine!  Let’s meet!  I’m sure you will see what a good girl I am and you’ll want me to come home with you!
