Hi! My name is Pebbles. I’m a 3 year old Shih Tzu. I am so cute and cuddly. I love sitting on my foster mom and dad’s lap. My favorite thing is being held. I love to snuggle and sit by you on the sofa or while you work. My foster dad calls me “a little shadow” as I follow my foster parents around the house! I don’t want them out of my sight. I do well with other small dogs but am uncertain around large dogs and cats. I would do best with a family where someone is home most of the day — work from home, stay at home parent, retired/not working as I love people! I also do well with kids so far— but don’t like when my foster sister makes loud noises or screams. I’m not aggressive but I do get alerted. I think I just have to get used to it. But I love when she gives me gentle pets!
I am learning how to potty outside. I’m pretty good with pee but not so good at poop yet. I was kept in a kennel most of my life so I don’t understand potty yet. I need someone patient with me as I learn. I go out every 2-3 hours but it takes me 10-15 minutes to go. Good thing it’s warming up!
I’m also learning to walk on a leash! I don’t pull on my leash and do fine on walks, but still confused why my humans want me to walk with this string thing. I just want them to hold me! Because I was kept in a kennel my whole life, my foster parents let me sleep in the bed. I do so well! I like to play with a toy as they settle down and then I snuggle right in and sleep. I may need a potty break overnight until I get potty trained. I also do well in the car. I don’t bark much. I don’t bark when people come to the door, but as I’ve adjusted to strangers I do initially bark when meeting new people. I am fed on a schedule (11-noon and 5-6pm) so that I go to the bathroom well before bed. I am pretty thin and need to gain a little bit. I eat kibble and take meds well in wet food. I’ve recently discovered pet toys and love to chew. Still learning what is and isn’t a toy. I don’t chew furniture but have brought the remote to the humans to see if it’s a toy. Spoiler: it’s not! That’s silly. But I don’t get mad if they take it away, I just find a new puppy toy.
