HI, my name is Ladybird, but my people call me Lady for short. I’m a Shepard mix born approximately 8/2022 that came from an overcrowded shelter in Kentucky. I really like my people, especially the little ones (3, 5 & 13). I currently live with a female dog, and we get along great but I’m not sure about cats. I can have bursts of puppy energy but mostly my foster mom says I’m a pretty chill girl. I enjoy chewing on my bones and toys, and other things that I’m not supposed to. I am still learning what I can chew on, so my people need to keep a close eye on me. I am very motivated by treats, which is helping me learn to sit, stay, come, lay down, and rollover. I’m mostly house trained if kept on a schedule (I go out about every hour if not in my kennel or after I drink a lot of water). I’m starting to pick up on how to use a bell to let my people know when I need to go out. I am completely kennel trained but it’s not my favorite place to be and will whine occasionally, I do calm down and go to sleep after a short time. I LOVE to be outside and do little somersaults in the snow. I tend to pull on a leash at first, but I walk nicely if I can walk next to my foster fur sister. I also really, REALLY LOVE squirrels, and want to chase them. Tug of war is one of my favorite games to play with foster fur sis or people. I’m learning how to not be so nervous while riding in the car, but I usually just lay down in the back to tell it’s time to get out. I do respond to my name in the house when called but not so much outside, so I must be on a leash or in a fenced yard. I would love to be in a home with kids because they are just so much fun, and I want to say hi to everyone I meet! I am very comfortable with being picked up or moved, and love to be held like a baby.
