Sable is a yorkie born approximately 4/16/2017. She weighs about 6 pounds. Sable came from an environment where she was neglected along with her other sibling dogs. Due to the neglect, Sable’s long hair needed to be completely shaved, but she has taken to wearing doggie fashions while her hair grows back. Sable also had nearly all her teeth extracted after coming into rescue. She has 9 teeth remaining and will need yearly dental cleanings to ensure the health of her remaining teeth.

Sable is working on basic training, but has been excellent when it comes to house training. She has had next to zero accidents in the house or the crate. Sable has some issues with crate training and will cry in the crate at night. She does eventually settle. 

Sable is learning how to use a leash and has not been on many walks except to go outside to go potty. Sable is able to walk up stairs but is still learning how to go down them. Sable rides well in the car but prefers to ride in someone’s lap over the crate. 

Sable is still learning to trust humans and has a tendency to bark at new people. Sable prefers women over men. She can be guarded about her space and will bark at people when they move from room to room. Sable allows people to pick her up but she definitely feels most comfortable with her foster mom right now. Sable loves to be held and will whine to be held, or just be near her human. Typically she sleeps most of the day curled up on a fuzzy blanket. Sable has met children but if she were in a home with children, older children would be a better fit for her. 

Sable currently lives with two small dogs that she ignores. She has experienced a large dog, and one cat and she did not mind them. Sable would do well as a solo dog, or with other low energy dogs that would respect her space. 

Sable is learning a lot, but she is very sweet. With lots of love, and a family willing to be patient, she will be an excellent companion!

Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, dental, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX , flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $395.00

We are 100% volunteer based, so on occasion it could take more than the standard 24 hours.
