Found in Osseo, abandoned in the woods, Maid Marian’s history is unknown, but her future appears bright.

 

Overall: She is a little skittish at first but warms up quickly once she knows you. Everyone who meets her and gets to know her loves her. She loves to lean on you and get scratches but is also happy to play on her own. She is completely house trained and knows how to sit, stay, down, and come especially when treats are involved. She does jump up some when overly excited and mouths a bit but is easily redirected. Gentle correction seems best.

 

Kenneling: Maid Marian kennels very well overnight. Reluctant to go in at first, cries for at the most five minutes, she is then quiet all night long. She’s ok kenneling during the day, but does fuss a bit at first, then settles down. As I’ve had her longer, she is fine in her bed in the bedroom and has advanced to sleeping on the bed. (My bad!). She has also slowly gained more freedoms and can be left alone unkenneled for a few hours; all she does is sleep.

 

Kids/Cats: Maid Marian went to a temp foster for two weeks where there were kids and two other smaller pups and a cat. She did very well there. Once introduced, she plays well with my family’s other pups.

 

Walking: She has made great strides in her confidence when on walks. She greets people and calm dogs well. She is learning how to heel and does still pull at the leash a bit, but she likes to learn and it appears she’ll do well with training. She is very interested in squirrels/chipmunks/bunnies. She’s a terrier; it’s what they do.

 

Energy level/Food: High when it needs to be. Loves to do zoomies in the yard; laid back in the house. She likes to chase and be chased. She is a good eater, but not crazy at mealtimes like some dogs are. Is treat motivated for training.

 

Car rides: Does well in the car in her kennel and also good when just tethered in the car seat. She has also been on several overnight trips to various family members and has impressed everyone with her good behavior and loving manner.  Travels well long term in the car. Again, skittish at first, but once she knows you she’s your best friend.

 

Favorite activities: playing fetch with squeaky tennis balls (she retrieves better than my goldens ever did!), stuffed squeak toys, chasing and being chased. Loves ice cubes; also big on lying in sun puddles.

 

And, this girl loves to eat sticks, all sizes, all varieties. She’s not just chewing and spitting out, she eats them, so be prepared to pick up sticks in your yard! Update: now that most sticks are out of the yard, she’s moved on the mulch, so you have to watch her!

 

While Maid Marian is just starting to settle in and learn a new lifestyle, it seems she’s going to make someone or some family a terrific, loving pet. 

 

Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate),  Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age , Bordetella vaccine, 4DX , flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $575.00
