Springer Spaniel / Mixed (medium coat) : : Female : : Adult : : Medium
Hello, my name is Gemma! I’m a Springer Spaniel born 6/25/21. I am the most beautiful girl with such soft golden colored fur and the prettiest olive green eyes. I am very sweet, gentle and affectionate and love to be by my people and get all the pets. Belly scratches are my favorite!! The best way to describe me is shy and cautious of new things, people, noises and unfamiliar places but I have proven that I can be brave and warm up very quickly. When I first arrived from Kentucky, I was so scared I was shaking and cowering in the back of my kennel. In my short life, I have been through so much. I didn't know what was going to happen to me next, but I am so grateful to now know that I am past that awful time and I am looking forward to a much better future with my new family! My foster family is working hard on socializing me and exposing me to all of the things that I am not used to. I am doing such a good job and have come so far already in such a short time. I am learning to trust people and really want to be around them. In fact, I really like to be around people and will put my paws on your lap, or lay next to you on the couch and roll over for those favorite belly scratches. I get so excited and have the cutest wiggle butt when I am happy. I have started to run around the yard and play with toys and the resident dog more and more each day. I love to go everywhere with you in the car and promise to be the very best passenger. I am kennel trained and stay there no problem during the day when my foster family is at work. I am comfortable and just lay down quietly waiting for you to come home. I have not had to go into the kennel at night because I have been very well behaved and not gotten into anything that I should not. I like to sleep on the floor by the bed or sometimes beside my people in bed. I am fully potty trained, have not had a single accident and will even let you know that I have to go out by getting your attention. Leash training is going great. I don't mind it at all, in fact, I love going for walks and have done amazingly well. I just walk along taking everything in and smelling all the smells. New dogs can be a little scary for me at first and I sometimes try to get as far away from them as I can by hiding behind my person. I do get along great with other dogs, it just might take a few days or meetings for me to get to know them and warm up. I am very submissive and will just go lay down or mind my own business if I am in an uncomfortable situation. I have not shown any aggression at all. If my forever home has another dog, ideally it would be a gentle calm dog that could continue to show me the ropes of being a dog and doing all the dog things with me. Training is going well. I am easily corrected and eager to please, I love being told that I am a good girl! I really am the best girl! Could you be my forever home?
