Hello there, my formal name is Lobito but I go by Louie; I like keeping things casual! I am a chihuahua and Pomeranian mix, approximately 2 years old and a tiny guy at 11 pounds. My life changed dramatically when I left the streets of Mexico and arrived in a comfy home in Minnesota. My main goals in life now are to snuggle as much as possible, play with my stuffed toys and monitor what is going on both in the house and outside. I love a good, comfy blanket and will pop right up on the couch when my people are seated. I have mastered a lot of things in my foster home. I sleep well in my kennel and am also good about being in there when my foster family is away. I would much rather sleep in someone's bed or roam the house but my foster family says I should be used to my kennel in case my forever family prefers that. I do get upset if I am in my kennel while someone is home. I don't like to be kept away from the action. I have also mastered going potty outside. I love being outside and checking things out. My fosters have a fenced in yard which is great as it gives me room to run around and explore. That being said, I could adjust to being on a tie-out too. I went through a little transition period when I arrived and had a few accidents but am now doing great! It does take some convincing for me to go out if it is raining though. I keep hearing about this cold snow stuff that is coming soon. Being such a small fella with a light fur coat, I may need a coat to keep me warm out there. I do great walking on the leash, I get very excited when I see the leash come out, I love walking and exploring the neighborhood! I do pull a little bit but I'm not strong enough for it to be excessive. I ride great in the car and I have been to the puppy salon a couple times to get my nails trimmed. I also do well for baths. As long as it's me and my people, I'm a happy guy.

Now that I have you convinced that I am just perfect, let me tell you about some of my struggles. Being a stray in my earlier life has put me on high alert at all times. I may be able to make some improvements with dedicated training but I will likely struggle with being on high alert ongoing. I startle easily at sudden movements or noises. Because of this, I would do best in a home with no young children. My human foster brothers are teenagers and we get along well but younger kids move too quickly for me to process and I get upset. I also am quite protective of my home and my people. When a new person comes to the house, I bark, growl and snap towards them. I am not trying to bite but it's very loud and scary for the new person. My foster family will need to be dedicated to either VERY slow introductions to new people or putting me in a kennel out of sight when new people are at the house. I also react the same way to other dogs when I am in the yard or on a walk. I do live with two dogs currently and get along with them great. I even like playing and snuggling with them, but I have not been able to really get along with other dogs so I probably would do best being the only dog in my forever home.

That's a lot about me, I'm excited to get to know you! If you're looking for a sidekick and forever pal, I just might be the guy for you!
