Rolo is a cute black and white (with some brown shades) Shepherd mix pup born July 16, 2023.  He is a great pup who loves to play, explore and experience new things.  He can be a little shy with some new people but once he warms up, he is very confident and friendly. 

Rolo is currently in a foster home with dogs of all sizes, and a couple of cats. He has also been exposed to chickens and has learned to leave them alone. He does very well with all of them.  He loves to wrestle with most of the dogs in the home, but since he is still a puppy, his play might be too much for smaller dogs.  He is learning to adjust his play style for smaller or less-active dogs.  He does well with cats, and enjoys cuddling with them. 

Rolo is potty trained, well-mannered in the home, and responds immediately when redirected.  He will sleep in his crate or in his bed through the night.   He never soils his crate or the room he sleeps in and lets his people know when he needs to go outside.

We have been allowing Rolo to be off-leash outdoors under our supervision.  He stays in our yard and comes immediately when called.  He walks very well on leash, and would be an excellent hiking or walking partner.

We have been working on using word buttons, and he is starting to catch on to those.  So far, he is using buttons requesting “outside” and “treat”.  As he gains experience, we’ll continue to add more buttons to his training.

Rolo is very smart and knows several commands:  sit, stay, come, drop it/leave it, treat, outside, kennel up, night-night, and sometimes shake.  He loves to learn new things and would do very well with continued training. 

We are working on desensitizing due to some car or motion sickness, and he is making improvement.

He has met children as young as 5 and has been very gentle with them.  He loves everyone he has ever met but sometimes he needs a little time to become comfortable with someone. 

We think Rolo would do well in almost any household.  He would love to have another dog to play with, but he could do just fine as an only dog too.  With so much going for him, the best way to truly see all of his wonderful traits is to interact with him directly.  He would love to meet you!
