Penny is a spunky and adorable 1 year old shihtzu. She will take a few days to warm up to you, but given what she's been through the past couple weeks it’s understandable. She just needs patience and love!

She’s skittish at first and needs space to come to you. Once she warms up, oh boy you’re in for a treat! She’s so friendly and sweet. She wags her little tail to show excitement and nuzzles your face. She’s a great companion at your feet as you watch TV. She is curious and likes to watch what’s going on in the kitchen. She is just a little joyful girl.

She does need to be on a leash at all times as outside noises scare her as she adapts to her surroundings. She’s still learning to walk on a leash but she’s potty trained and will go with some encouragement outside. She benefits from regular potty breaks as she’s still a puppy and recovering from having a litter this winter.

She’s also crate trained and does well in there for a 2-4 hours stints when you have to leave. She would prefer to be able to sleep in the bed and will snuggle right in with you. Since she’s little, she needs help getting on the bed but does well staying all night in the bed.

She’s great with kids, but needs ones who can be patient with her as she learns her surroundings. She has not shown any aggression and tends to run away when scared.

She would do best in a home with no dogs or small dogs (<30 lbs). She’s done great with fellow small dogs to learn from.

She had 16 teeth extracted so currently is on a diet of wet food. It would be best to continue with wet food or at least soak her dry food and mush it up as it’s hard for her to chew. She loved to play with toys and soft bones (but hasn’t been able to until her stitches heal).

If you adopt Penny, you’ll have an amazing addition to your life. She brings a smile to your face and is just the sweetest little girl!
