Hello there! I’m Mateo, a lovable 2-year-old Basset Hound mix with charmingly stubby legs and ears that might remind you of Yoda! I was found on a sunny beach in Mexico, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be living the good life here in Minnesota with NDLB.

I’m a snuggle enthusiast and love curling up close to my humans whenever I get the chance. I’ve quickly adapted to my new life and am learning new tricks – I’ve mastered “sit” and “kennel” (in English, no less!). I’m crate and house trained, and while I’m a bit of a food lover, I’m also eager to learn if treats are involved.

I’m well-behaved in my crate and rarely bark, unless I see something interesting while we’re driving. I prefer to be close to someone in the car but I'm also happy to wait patiently in the back seat, and I do great in social settings like breweries where I can soak up all the attention and good vibes.

I get along well with other dogs, though I might come on a bit strong at first. Once I’ve made a friend, I’m all in. I do pull a bit on the leash because I’m always following my nose, but I also enjoy a good zoomie session in the yard and love basking in the sun with my little legs stretched out.

Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $525.00
