“A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.” Quote by Josh Billings | ||||

Meet Tito. Seven pounds of cuddle bug and love sponge pup. He has all the typical characteristics of a Chihuahua but doesn’t seem as yippy as many. And if you’re looking for a pup to spoil, there’s just something about Tito that makes you want to baby him and cuddle him up non-stop. Little Tito has had bad luck, being hit by a car, which resulted in a ruptured eardrum. It is healing, but he is still a little wobbly at times. You’d never know it bothers him, though. Overall: Tito is a little skittish at first but warms up once he knows you. He loves to be near you and get scratches but is also happy to play on his own. He is mostly house trained. Given his size, you do have to take him out a little more frequently, but he can go all night with no problems. It doesn’t appear he’s had any obedience training. He is learning to wait before eating and going outside, but he is a work in progress. Kenneling: Tito kenneled pretty well overnight the first week I fostered him, but he now sleeps in the bed (my bad). When left during the day he is reluctant to go into the kennel and throws a little hissy fit at first, but then settles down. He will go in and out of it during the day on his own, though, especially if the kennel is sitting in a sun puddle. Kids/Cats: Unsure about them as there are no kids or cats at foster home. He is very interested in squirrels and chipmunks, some of whom seem larger than he is. Doesn’t stop him though! Walking: Tito is a good little walker, but he barks when meeting people or dogs. And he does not heal. I dogsit and he spent a day with another bigger dog, who basically ignored him, but Tito did very well; knew when to back off, etc. Energy level/Food: Tito walks about a mile, two times a day. He is laid back in the house and like most Chihuahuas, is at your heels and follows you everywhere. He really just wants to be in your lap. He is a good eater, but not crazy at mealtimes like some dogs are. He is thin and he needs to gain a little weight. Car rides: Good in the car. He has either been in a crate or tethered in the back seat. Favorite activities: following right behind you and/or in your lap or arms. Playing with tennis balls, stuffed squeak toys, and soft chewy bones. While Tito is just starting to settle in and learn a new lifestyle, it seems he’s going to make someone or some family a terrific, fun companion.
