Homer was our SURPRISE puppy born 10/3/23. His mom's ultrasound showed six babies and when six puppies happened, we started picking up and letting momma Hopeful do her thing. About an hour later out came little Homer, the third little hairless pup. If you're not familiar with the Addams family, Homer was Wednesday's tarantula... always following Wednesday... Homer is a true go-getter. He is along for the ride, whatever that may be. He loves to be held and he loves to play. He is a total magnet to our daughter who is equally in love with his personality and is free spirit to just go go go. Homer and his other hairless siblings sure have a special spot in our hearts. We don't know why he was born hairless or if he'll stay hairless. But he hasn't grown much hair since birth other than his tail and feet. He will definitely need dog sweaters in the winter and sunscreen in the summer. Unless of course he grows a coat of his own... Homer loves squeaky toys, balls, and ropes to play with, but he loves to play them more with you. Homer loves people and dogs of all sizes and ages. In our home we have kids aging from 5-10 and dogs from 15lbs-70lbs. Homer is your typical young puppy, teething, potty training, leash and kennel training will be something his adoptive family will have the pleasure of working with him on. Homer is expected to be a medium size dog when full grown.
UPDATE: Due to possibly being born premature Homer was born hairless. Follicle hair development was not in his favor at birth and was born hairless, but he continues to grow hair throughout, just rather slowly. We believe that Homer will either develop a full coat or remain hairless as a DNA test was performed and showed a very small percentage with a hairless breed, but in the meantime, he loves wearing his warm sweaters to protect and keep him warm. He’s ready for a family of his own that will love holding him since he absolutely loves to be held.
