Connie is a delightful and affectionate Chihuahua mix born in approximately May of 2021 who is looking for her forever home. Her foster Mom calls her Connie Joy due to her joyful personality and just the right amount of lively spirit.   She made her way to Minnesota from Tijuana in early November. Despite the drastic change in climate, she has adapted admirably and continues to thrive in her new environment.   Connie is potty pad and house trained, crate trained, and is making excellent progress with leash walking.  She is a moderate barker and has some separation anxiety when her foster Mom initially leaves the house (even though foster Dad is home), but calms down after some time.  For these reasons she may not be ideal for apartment living.   Initially, Connie may need some time to warm up to new people, particularly men, but her loving nature and joyful exuberance shines through once she gets comfortable. She enjoys sitting in laps or snuggling close to people.   Connie has done well with small dogs and a cat in her current home.  She hasn’t been exposed to children or larger dogs. She does exhibit some leash aggression towards other dogs and tends to bark at strangers that try to interact with her during walks, but her current caregivers are actively working on improving these behaviors.  Connie loves to run in the fenced backyard despite the cold temps, but isn't a fan of rain or snow, preferring to stay indoors during inclement weather.  She would thrive in a home that can provide her with patience, love, and continued training. A household without young children or large dogs may be best suited for her, unless the adopter is prepared for gradual introductions and socialization. Connie will be a loving and loyal friend to anyone who takes the time to earn her trust.   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Dental, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee:  $425.00
