Meet Whyatt, a Basset Hound born roughly 2/15/21!  Whyatt came to us from Arkansas and was a little thrown off by the cold at first but is settling in just fine. Whyatt is currently staying with a resident older large mix breed dog and 2 cats. In all honestly, he could care less about any of them! What he does love is his foster family. Whyatt can be a little shy towards people at first, especially to adult males.  However, he has warmed up to everyone in the family (8 yr old, 16 yr old, and adult male & female) within a couple of days. Whyatt's most favorite thing so far is snuggling with his foster humans, especially his foster mom! As long as Whyatt has someone to love on who will love on him right back he really would do well in most homes. Whyatt is seemingly a house potato. He's pretty low energy and doesn't care much about toys, bones, or playing with other dogs.  He just wants a human to be nearby or to follow around. Whyatt is potty and kennel trained and responds sometimes to basic commands but could use more training, something we'll be working on.  So far, Whyatt has been a little nervous about new surroundings and situations and doesn't always come when called. Because of this, having a fenced in yard would be great, otherwise, he should be on a leash or lead when outside.  Whyatt rides well in cars but does howel at passing vehicles. Speaking of howling, Whyatt doesn't have much of a bark but he does like to howel like the Basset Hound he thinks he is. He's not a loud howler but he will howl randomly during the day when his favorite human leaves or while he's getting settled in his kennel. It's quite funny, but because of this, he may not do well in a living situation where noise could be an issue. If you're looking for a calm, loving companion to snuggle up with and be by your side Whyatt may be your man!
