Meet Preacher! This one-year-old retriever mix made his way from Arkansas in June and has been bringing big smiles and bouncy energy ever since!
Preacher is an enthusiastic, playful pup who thrives on activity. Whether he’s chasing after a ball (he’s still working on the “bring it back” part) or wrestling with his foster sister, Irene, he’s always up for fun. He’s the kind of dog who will make a great companion for someone who enjoys an active lifestyle and doesn’t mind a bit of goofy puppy energy.
He’s currently learning how to walk on a leash and working on his basic obedience skills. Preacher is a smart, trainable guy, but like many young dogs, he’s still figuring out how to manage his excitement. With consistency and patience, he’s sure to make great progress.
Preacher is doing well with potty training when kept on a schedule. He’s also crate trained and settles in nicely—although he may get a little vocal when he sees other dogs getting attention without him (can you blame him?).
He’d do well as either a solo dog or with another playful canine companion. That said, older or more laid-back dogs might need a break from his youthful antics. While he hasn’t been around children in his foster home, we recommend a household with older kids due to his enthusiastic jumping when excited.
If you’re looking for an affectionate, high-energy buddy who’s eager to learn and ready to love, Preacher might be your perfect match. Submit your application today and meet your new best friend!
