  • Charlie wants to please his "people" family.
  • He loves to go on walks and does well on his leash.
  • He loves to be brushed.
  • Charlie is good with other dogs, but prefers to be the alpha male in the household; does wonderful around submissive female dogs.

Long-haired Bernies shed and need regular grooming. This breed makes wonderful family companions with obedience training and daily exercise, but due to their larger size, may do better living in the country or suburbs.

Charlie has been a wonderful dog around his foster kids (youngest is 6).  He has not been kept in a kennel in his foster home, but hasn't really needed one.  Owners should be prepared for drool. It is best to keep drool rags at an arm's reach at all times.

Charlie wants a family who is tolerant and stern, yet loving, respectful and unconditional.  He needs a family who understands and is familiar with the St. Bernard breed.
