Pepper was found hanging around some summer lake homes looking thin and scared. She had no collar or microchip so was brought back to the cities to find a new forever home. Pepper loves hanging around people. She is content to lie around keeping an eye on you and will move to follow wherever you go. At the dog park she will venture off to find exciting smells but comes back regularly to check in with you. She likes to curl up by you on the couch and at the foot of the bed – both of which are allowed in her foster home. On the days her foster mom works from a home office she sleeps on the rug near her desk. Pepper does not like being kenneled and broke the plastic bottom of a kennel while staying with a vacation foster. However she is housetrained and has done fine when left for up to 9 hours in the house. She likes car rides but she does jump into the front seat upon arrival at the destination so a car barrier would be a good idea. She knows the command for sit, will generally come when called and we are working on stay. She does need help learning to sit instead of jumping up enthusiastically for greeting. For that reason she would be better in a home without small children. She loves chasing tennis balls, squirrels, and running through water. The large melting puddles at the dog park are one of the highlights of the morning visit. She currently lives with 2 male beagles and gets along well with them although she has trouble figuring out how to play with them. She has done well with calm dogs but does not do as well with excitable dogs. She also lives with 2 cats and has done well with them once properly introduced. Pepper would love a home with a warm bed, regular meals and loving human companionship.  Lake or water access would be an added bonus.

Pepper's  adoption fee includes: rabies vaccination, DHPP vaccination, Bordetella vaccination, de-wormer, 4DX heartworm/tick disease test, neuter, flea and tick preventive,(seasonal) heartworm preventive (seasonal) pre-paid micro-chip, and a full veterinary exam. Adoption fee: $285.00

We are 100% volunteer based, so on occasion it could take more than the standard 24 hours.
