Odie is a 2 year-old sweet boy that came into rescue due to a hoarding situation down south. He is an absolute joy to have around and just wants to sit by you, lay on your lap, chew on bones, and go for walks. He gets along well with our resident small dog, and they play so nicely together. I think he would do well in a house with other dogs, but it isn’t necessary as long as you have lots of time to play with this active boy. Odie is potty trained and does his business outside very quickly. He only had one marking incident when he first arrived at our house and hasn’t had any since! He sleeps through the night in bed with me and I’m sure he would love to continue that is his new home if he is allowed. During the day, you can usually find him following me around to whatever room I am in, playing with toys, and chewing on bones of all kinds. He keeps himself busy, and he loves to watch what you are doing and just be wherever you are. Odie does well on walks although he does pull on his leash and will occasionally bark at people or some dogs (although I think our resident dog is usually the instigator of that). I think a harness would help with the pulling. Odie also likes to take rides in the car and is very well-behaved. When we leave the house, we put Odie in the kennel (with a treat). He doesn’t love to go in there, but he is getting better at this, and I really don’t think a kennel would be necessary for Odie is his new home because he is such a good boy. We have only left him in the kennel for a couple hours at a time. He may bark at first, but I’ve noticed he settles down and when we come back home, he is quiet and calm until we take him out. In the house, Odie is well-behaved and doesn’t chew on things that he isn’t supposed to (aside from the occasional sock thief). We were told before we fostered Odie that he shouldn’t be with kids or men. He currently lives with his foster mom and teenage sister and does very well. We introduced him to a couple of men, and he did bark at them but was not aggressive. He eventually sniffed them and wagged his tail, so training and slow introductions will be necessary. We haven’t introduced him to any kids yet. In summary, Odie would make a great addition to a household with other dogs and preferably females (at this time). He is such a lover and so easy to have around. Do you want a loving companion like Odie to keep you company?
