Ren is a breeder release, Shiba Inu. She is cream colored. She has a deformed, rear foot or had an injury that makes her limp a little bit. She runs, but I think the deformity hinders that some. She is missing the outside part of her foot and the toe so I think that throws her balance off a bit. She is a little timid around humans. She is starting to come out of her shell a bit. Ren is a silly little thing. She takes cues from the other dogs and gets really excited when I come home. She does a little dance where she twirls in a circle and kind of nips and licks the tips of my fingers. She also gets this look on her face that seems to be smiling and she squints her eyes. It is super cute!! She is a bit shy and likes to take squeaky toys to the kitchen where the other dogs and I can’t see her. I can’t get over how adorable she is. I think she will be quite the character when she gets comfortable.
Sheba Inu’s have a thick, double coat which means A LOT of shedding. Ren is “blowing out her coat” now and I have been attempting to brush her. I don’t think she has ever been brushed as she tries to get away from the brush while I have a hand holding her collar. I read that when you brush their tail you need to be extremely gentle as they are not very strong. Apparently Sheba Inu’s “blow out their coat” in Spring and Fall.
I don’t feel like we have really connected yet, but with time and patience she will blossom. She enjoys being around my dogs, laying on the couch and bed with the other dogs. She doesn’t seem to pay much attention to my cats. I don’t know how she would be with kids.
Sometimes she will go into the kennel to sleep and sometimes she will sleep on the floor next to the bed or sometimes she will sleep on the couch in the living room.
She is mostly potty trained. Most of the time she goes potty outside, but uses the pee pads during the night. If I happen to wake up during the night I let all my dogs out.
